Flame Detectors
A flame detector is a type of sensor that can detect and respond to the presence of a flame. Today’s flame detectors use optical technologies to detect flames. Flames are known to emit electromagnetic radiation in infrared (IR), visible light and ultraviolet (UV) wavelengths, depending on the fuel source. Therefore, optical flame detection technologies have been developed using UV, UV/IR and multi-spectrum infrared. These products rely on in situ detection of emitted radiation in spectral bands to determine whether a flame is real.
The flame detector responds to the detection of a flame by design, for example it can set an alarm, disable the fuel line and even activate a fire suppression system.
Flame Detectors can operate in the harshest environmental conditions. They are independent and self-operating devices designed for direct connection to control and alarm systems or automatic fire extinguishing systems.
