Fire pumps, particularly at churn (closed-valve) conditions or at low flow, can push system
pressure well above the pressure at which the pump started. In tall buildings, adding pump
pressure on top of static pressure has a similar effect. A pressure relief valve opens once
system pressure crosses a pre-set threshold and discharges the excess water, preventing
pipework, fittings and valves from being pushed past their pressure class. If your project’s
governing specification (NFPA 20, TS EN 12845, etc.) has a specific clause on pressure relief,
confirm the valve selection against that clause with the engineer of record.
The three models we supply in this group include a small-diameter (DN15–DN20) pilot-operated
valve, and the FK-RV and FK-PRV3, larger-diameter (DN40–DN300) models offering
grooved/flanged/threaded connection options; the FK-PRV3 is the same family’s extended size
range, down to DN40.
These valves are used in water-based suppression
systems and pump-station piping.
